Client: Pathways

‘Our purpose is to create Pathways for young people into their future. Please create us a cafe logo’

Pathways support young people and their families with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) who have disengaged or disappeared from the educational system and are unable to access appropriate education. They encourage change in our existing systems to ensure that young people, regardless of their circumstances, aren’t left behind.

Designing a cafe logo

As well as a school, Pathways own ‘The Cookie bar’, a social enterprise café. Giving young people real world employment opportunities. Pathways asked topright to design, advise and consult on the rebrand of their cafe logo. Creating a new brand for the Pathways group and bringing the café under the Pathways banner. Topright designed and presented three variations of brand design for the group and the coffee shop. The brand presentation visuals focussed on the café logo and illustrated the brand in use on various items of brand collateral. The Cookie Bar works closely with Undershaw a nearby SEN school. As topright was in the process of working with Undershaw School logo design to create their new brand identity they felt it only right that they help out and offer their services for free. Supporting this worthy and community driven social enterprise.

The ‘P’ works great as an individual icon, it produces a soft natural curved path which gradually flows through the letter carving an opening to represent an individuals journey to their true and purposeful development – attainable by diverse opportunities to learning and employment through the Pathways model. By using the interior space within the ‘P’ it creates an interesting form, compelling the audience to do a double take and examine the cafe logo more closely.
