Aesthetics are important when designing a website. But functionality plays an even bigger part of the design process. Therefore understanding how a website is going to work in terms of it’s user experience, navigation and responsiveness is key to a good website.

A selection of large imagery was chosen and placed throughout the website. These are striking and engage the user, helping to promote their work.

The menu is simple and allows the user to navigate through the site easily. There are additional quick-links on the homepage to each of their shows to maximise user experience. User functionality allows for social sharing on the footer of each page as well as listing their contact details.

We added blue tones across the dance website design at different points. This helps to bring the site together and build consistency. The top left hand corners of boxes across the site have a unique ‘cut off’’ styling.

Photographic 'on-page' navigation

Photographic navigation within the site that uses mono images that 'colour-up' upon roll-over, bring a dynamic and stylish functionality to the user experience.

Responsive design

The site shuffles and re-structures content dependent on the device being used to view it. Whether viewed on desktop, tablet or mobile and in either landscape or portrait, the viewer is given the most appropriate view.

Easy social sharing

Quick sharing to multiple platforms from relevant pages.

CMS (Content management system)

Client can easily update the contents of the site in the WordPress backend.

Front and Centre

Joli Vyann wanted to have their latest show to always have a presence on the homepage. Visitors could easily navigate to the latest performance page within the website. The solution was to use a stylised white animated 'tab' coming from the bottom right of the screen. Upon opening, it draws the users attention to the latest show.

Transparent menu

The use of transparent menus over full screen width images in key places throughout the site makes the most of the beautiful images that Joli Vyann have.

Parallax functionality

Use of parallax functionality within the footer area gives the sense of reveal and thus separating the page content from the footer throughout the site.
